Garrett M. Benson is a third generation filmmaker and a Los Angeles native. The family tradition began in the 1940s with his grandfather, a Set Designer, and continued into the new millennium with his father, a Director of Photography.

As a child, Garrett would often visit his dad on the set and sit behind the camera. This experience he gained early in life cemented his desire to pursue his dream of being a filmmaker.

Garrett began by studying at the University of Southern California graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Film Production.
He then joined the International Cinematographer’s Guild as a film loader working on feature films, commercials and television. In the corresponding 20+ years, Garrett progressed through the various positions within the camera department, refining his technical skills and expanding his creativity. This foundation has grown into the guiding force in Garrett’s life today, where he enjoys working as a Director of Photography.

Garrett’s innate charisma and laid-back personality creates a culture of teamwork while his unique perspective breeds innovation for new ideas. These traits create the perfect blend of creatively while harnessing the best from available resources and personnel.
